Years ago, I helped coach a track team. I got USATF certified and everything… One thing I noticed is the velocity is a product of stride and turnover. Bear with me on this one. In other words, if you run 165 steps a minute, and if you have a a stride of 6.5 feet, you will run 5280 feet (a mile) in 4:55.38462. ((5280/6.5)/165) If you intend to run a sub 4 minute mile, you must either lengthen your stride, or increase you turnover. A rate of 180 steps per minute, with a stride of 7 1/3 feet per stride will get exactly a 4 minute mile… it’s simple math! Anything quicker or longer will increase the velocity. The same is with agile projects. Decrease the time of each iteration (from idea to successful deployment), and you will increase velocity. Increase the amount accomplished in each iteration, and you will increase velocity. Increase both, and you may have a world class team…
